During the summer of 2010, I spent a month in Nicaragua with the Art of Solidarity, a MICA summer abroad program. This trip served as a wonderful opportunity to fuse my love for traveling with my interest in community art. While there, we worked with VIMAU productions to create a series of videos exploring different facets of Nicaraguan culture (not featured on this website) and we also partnered with the Jose Siquieros Muralist Collective in Esteli to facilitate a mural project with youth in the town of San Juan de Limay. Both projects were tremendous learning experiences, and the people I met left a lasting impression upon me. As I continue to process my time there, I value the insights I gained more and more.
