  • Manage 5 core media education programs at 6 different sites across Baltimore, for over 400 youth ages 10 – 24, including supervision of 10 part-time teaching staff and seasonal high-school and college interns. 
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community partners, including Baltimore City Public Schools, The Enoch Pratt Free Library, Urban Alliance, area non-profits and higher education institutions. 
  • Database management, program reporting, curriculum development. Ensure compliance for funder requirements, site permitting and other requirements. 
  • Coordinate staff professional development opportunities, hire and train new staff, recruit volunteers and interns.

  • Partner with Baltimore City Public Schools staff to teach photography workshops at 8 different schools in Baltimore, for youth 5th – 12th grade.

  • Doubled size of volunteer program and managed over 300 active volunteers; collaborated with faculty, staff and student groups from higher educational institutions to develop service learning initiatives.
  • Created and implemented trainings on teaching English as a Second Language, intercultural communication, refugee advocacy, mentoring across socio-economic difference, teaching financial literacy, and the impact of class status on immigrant integration.
  • Managed Individual Mentoring program (similar to Big Brothers, Big Sisters): Hosted monthly support groups, created online resources, maintained case notes, developed tracking mechanisms and referral system for over 60 students within the program.

 

Community Arts Partnership Coordinator

Baltimore, MD; Fall 2008 - Summer 2010

  • Designed and implemented community arts/ESL curricula with refugee youth K-8th grade enrolled in BCCC’s Refugee Youth Project 4 days a week throughout the school year.
  • Managed Milbrook Elementary program site during 2009-10 academic year (site with 45 students k – 5th grade enrolled, programming twice a week) and supervised 20 college-aged volunteers tutoring ESL, elementary and middle school subjects.

  • Developed, implemented and managed 15-20 programs for over 400 senior volunteers to participate in, including education initiatives in public schools and intergenerational exchanges.

Creator/Co-Facilitator, Delhi-Baltimore Creative Exchange                               

Fall 2013 - Spring 2014

  • Established a global partnership between participants at the New Delhi-based organization Kid Powered Media and middle school students at ConneXions School for the Arts in Baltimore to promote cross-cultural learning through a shared photography and video blog.

 

Coordinator, International Family Day, Walters Art Museum, Baltimore, MD                    

Summer 2009 - 2010

  • Organized celebration for 300 members of the Baltimore community, with a focus on making the museum accessible to over 150 refugees and immigrants.  Preparations included translating materials into five languages and including arts activities and performances from diverse cultures/traditions.

  • 3 week visiting artist, conducted outreach with local NGO’s and arts-based community organizations and facilitated a mural project for migrant children with physical and cognitive disabilities
