In summer 2011, I decided to paint a mural in my local community garden - the Remington Village Green. To create the design, I taught a lesson at the weekly arts and crafts event in the neighborhood, aptly called "Porch Art". Participants received plexi-glass, sharpies, and wildflowers to trace. Then, I used the drawings to create a final design to be painted on a 52' section of building facing the garden.
Wednesday evening painting sessions were advertised in the neighborhood newsletter and were open to anyone - we had retirees working next to kindergardeners! The entire wall took about 7 workdays to complete. See the design below (the white area accounts for a part of the wall that we couldn't paint).
